A decision will be made today on whether a petrol station can sell alcohol.
redbridge Council's licensing committee will convene at Redbridge Town Hall in Ilford this evening to consider an application by Fuel UK Limited in Snakes Lane East, Woodford Green.
Bridge ward Conservative councillor, Paul Canal, is opposed to the move.
He said: "It pretty obvious to me that is not appropriate for petrol stations to sell alcohol.
"Drivers should not be able to pop in for petrol and buy a bottle of vodka too.
"I will be interested in the outcome but my official position is against the move."
