The NHS trust which runs Queen’s and King George hospitals admitted to missing government targets.

In a board meeting on Wednesday, figures released by Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) showed it admitted or discharged 85 per cent of patients within four hours during May of this year.

The government targets for seeing A&E patients within four hours is 95 per cent.

Trust Chief Executive Matthew Hopkins said at the meeting that he is seeking an extra £5 million of funding from the NHS Trust Development Authority.
