Drivers have been warned to expect long delays on the M25 in Essex this morning as repair work is carried out following a lorry fire last night.

The road is closed anti-clockwise between junction 27 for the M11 and junction 26 at Waltham Abbey.

The Highways Agency said the remains of the lorry will be cut into sections and removed and carriageway repair work will then be carried out.

There are no reports of any injuries.

A spokesman said: "Delays are expected to be severe and drivers are strongly encouraged to avoid the area or postpone their journey if they can."

There is also slow traffic on the M11 in Essex heading into east London and on the A406.
