Police have made two arrests in connection with an assault on two traffic wardens in Woodford Green.

The parking enforcement officers were attacked by a driver and car passenger after one of them tried issuing a ticket in The Broadway on Wednesday.

Police were called to the scene near Woodford Tube station following reports of an assault at around 2.40pm, and gave chase to the attackers but they were not located.

London Ambulance Service was called and treated the victims at the scene for bruising to the face and limbs.

Two men aged 30 from Woodford Green and Rainham were arrested later that day on suspicion of actual bodily harm (ABH) and have been released on bail until mid-October pending further enquiries.

The assault witnessed by screaming members of the public and children was broken up after bystander Sean Fucile intervened by dragging one of the attackers off the warden.
