Freetime catches up with Queen Boudica ahead of her appearance in Horrible Histories – Barmy Britain, at Chelmsford City Theatre.

First of all, can you clear it up for us – is it Boudica or Boadicea?
It’s actually both, I find it depends on your age as to how you pronounce my name. I am known as Boudicca... you may bow. You may call me whatever you want... unless you’re a filthy dirty Roman then I shall just stab ya with me spear.

They didn’t have Twitter in AD60 – how are you getting on with it?
I’m a modern kinda girl #lovesocialmedia If I can lead my Celtic tribe, the Icenis, into battle I think I can handle this!

If you’d had the technology we have today back then, do you think things might have turned out differently for you?
Good question! Who knows... I had around 10,0000 people in my gang... may have had more if we had the means to communicate better!

We’re very honoured to have you! Will you be coming by chariot?
Of course. I shall be accompanied by other British greats such as Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria, King Henry Vlll #couldgoon

Name-dropper! But you’re greater than all of those, aren’t you?
#willgoon Richard the Lionheart, Guy Fawkes, Burke and Hare... but no one can rock a tune like Queen Boudicca #wewillsmashyou. Did you know it was Queen Victoria who remembered me as the amazing woman I was? Boudicca means ‘victory’ so we’re very similar.

That confirms it. You are the greatest! What horrible things are we going to learn about you in Horrible Histories?
Well that would be telling, but me and the other guys have a ball!! Educational whilst laughing ya horrible heads off! The second half of the show has this new technology you speak of... 3D!!!! Things fly out at you... I didn’t even flinch #hadtohide

Sounds truly horrible! Are we going to find out how you died? DID you poison yourself? Or is that treasonous to ask?
In the show they claim I poisoned myself... but I am more interested in where I can get my ginger hair done in Chelmsford.
