MP Iain Duncan Smith is hoping to attract up to 800 jobseekers today to an employment fair he has organised today.

The all-day event, starting at 10am, takes place at Chingford Assembly Hall in Station Road.

Companies and organisations attending include John Lewis, McDonald's, Empire Cinemas, Greggs, and Sainsbury's, and public sector employers such as the NHS, the Army and Waltham Forest council.

Jobseekers will be able to access advice on CV writing, interview skills and take part in apprenticeship and internship workshops.

There is expected to be a heavy police presence at the Assembly Hall as a demonstration is planned by Class War and Disabled People against Cuts (DPAC).

Anarchist and former Playboy model, Marina Pepper, has told the Guardian she will be officially launching her parliamentary campaign in Chingford today with the protest.

The Class War candidate for the Conservative stronghold hopes to confront Mr Duncan Smith about his welfare policies.

She said: "We will be coming into the Assembly Hall and hoping to talk to employers about paying the living wage and abolishing zero-hour contracts.

"I anticipate he might go screaming from the building."
