Two Christmas fundraising events for a children’s hospice were announced yesterday.

Both events will be held in Wanstead, raising money for Haven House Hospice, in High Road, Woodford Green.

The hospice, which cares for children with life-limiting conditions, will hold a Christmas fair at 11am on December 13 at Wanstead United Reformed Church, in Nightingale Lane, Wanstead.

The event will include activities for children including face painting, games, homemade crafts, a full choir and an opportunity to meet Santa himself.

There is also a carol concert at 6.30pm on December 18 at the same Wanstead church.

The show will be performed by Carmel Thomas Youth Choir, a group based in Buckhurst Hill, and mince pies and mulled wine will be available.

Mike Palfreman, Haven House chief executive, said: “Christmas can be a difficult time for our families, many aren’t sure if this could be their last with their unwell child and that’s why we call on the local community to think about the work of the hospice at this time.”
