A dance academy recognised by acclaimed dance troupe Diversity has held its annual dance show.

Streets Ahead Dance Academy based in Woodford and Waltham Abbey entertained hundreds of parents with street, hip hop and commercial jazz routines at West Hatch High School on December 20.

Over 90 dancers, who train at the Holy Trinity Scouts Hall in Hermon Hill, South Woodford, and at St Barnabas Church hall in Woodford Green, took to the stage to perform choreographed routines they had learnt throughout the year.

Academy founder Michelle Hawkes, 35, opened her first dance studio last month in a converted warehouse in Howard Business Park, Waltham Abbey, with the help of Perri Kiely and Jordan Banjo from Diversity.

Speaking about the end-of-year show, Mrs Hawkes said: “The show went off with a Bang.

“The kids danced amazingly well and my older kids looked so professional, they will certainly be well trained should they want to make a career in the industry.”
