A concierge at a housing development has been honoured for his work.

Chris Adedayo, 46, has worked at the Queen Mary Gate in South Woodford since it was built in 2007.

At the annual Property Management Awards on December 4, Mr Adedayo was voted Concierge of the Year.

The service run by Mr Adedayo and his team, provided by Consort Property Management, is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

He was recognised for going above and beyond what is often required from a concierge.

Mr Adebayo helped elderly people with their shopping when lifts have broken down, cleared snow from an entrance on his day off, and worked on Christmas Day to make sure the development was fully operational.

Mr Adedayo said: "It really means a lot to me to win the News on the Block award and I’m very grateful to have been nominated by my line manager.

"I really love my job – if the residents are happy then I’m happy.”

His boss, Sue Petri, added: "He has proven himself to be a real asset to our business, so we’re delighted that Chris has been recognised in these awards.

"His leaseholders demonstrate genuine affection towards him and Chris is considered more of a friend than a concierge.

"We really appreciate all that Chris does for the residents - his helpful, can-do attitude means he consistently gets great feedback."
