A school breakdancing group finished as runner-up in a competition this weekend.
Wansteady Crew, featuring seven pupils in year 10 to 13 from Wanstead High School, finished second in the Step into Battle event on Saturday at the Evelyn Grace Academy, in Brixton.
The event is an annual competition, featuring nine other schools around London and organised by Step into Dance, a community youth programme which aims to encourage greater participation in all forms of dance.
The young dancers all receive specialist training at their secondary schools as part of the programme which is a partnership between the Jack Petchey Foundation and the Royal Academy of Dance.
Wansteady Crew, which trains weekly with Gavin Vincent of professional dance group Soul Mavericks, had previously won the competition the last two occasions in 2012 and 2013.
But this year they were narrowly beaten by ODIN crew from Hendon School in a dance battle.
Judging the competition were three professional street scene dancers including Kloé Dean of Boy Blue Entertainment, Abdul Ali of Soul Mavericks, and Mr Ben of top UK locker.
