WANSTEAD: MP claims more than £300,000 in expenses

Harry Cohen MP Harry Cohen MP

WANSTEAD MP Harry Cohen has claimed more than £300,000 in expenses since 1990.

During an interview in a national newspaper Mr Cohen admitted to taking the full second home allowance over the past two decades - totalling £310,714.

The admission comes at a bad time for the long-serving MP after the Guardian revealed he had made the biggest second home allowance claim of any London MP during the past five years.

Cohen does NOT give value for money. He comes across as a money grabbing sponger who more often than not is absent from the people he is supposed to represent.

It starts with a 'p' and ends in a 'n' and the word is widely used in todays newspaper. After some of the abuse I have read on here, this is quite baffling!

A few months ago you quoted Mr Cohen urging people to make sure they claimed all their benefits: I'm glad to see one politician not afraid to lead from the front.
For many years Mr Cohen was a vigorous, attentive MP, and it's a pity to see this situation. However, after seeing articles where he says he whiles away boring debates by doodling pornographic doggerel, and changing the law to protect the human rights of sado-masochists to nail parts of themselves to the floorboards, the expression 'been on the job too long' comes to mind.

Hang on, the 'two decades' bit has just sunk in! For years he lived just off Hainault Rd, and you bumped into him all the time: he raised his family there. It was good to know you had an MP who lived so locally. This suddenly sounds like rather more than a stretched intepretation of the rules.

Yes - then he went "up market" and moved into Malcolm Way, Snaresbrook. At some later stage he acquired a one-bedroom property in Colchester that became his "home" for the dubious but financially handsomely rewarding purposes of the shoddy rules on MPs'allowancs.

Try cleaning your snout, Harry!

Didn't he also pretend to be her other half, Mike Hunt?
