CHADWELL HEATH: Teenager banned from driving as pedestrian dies in crash (From East London and West Essex Guardian Series)

A ten year jail sentence would have been more appropriate!!

Shouldn't the Guardian report contain basic facts about the sentencing 'tariff' that applies to the charges that the police bring forward in such cases? Then we can judge whether the court was lenient within their guidelines, or if it was at the top end of what they could impose.
Then the Guardian reporter can go back (or should already have to insert in the article)to get the answer from the police why the charge was only dangerous driving?
Where & from whom, are these 'cub' reporters getting their training because it is woefully lacking in depth, content, and knowledge of how the judicial system operates.

From tracking the Saffron Walden Reporter on the web;
PC Andy Sumner is quoted as saying this was due to driver inexperience and over a year after the incident it still affects friends, relatives and the driver and his young passengers.
AH HA.
Is this this reason why the driver got off almost free apart from costs? He showed contrition - or his defending counsel told him to show remorse and get a lighter sentence???
A customary dodge by many when appearing in court - hoping they will be believed.
The lady was struck apparently outside the home of her son when she had just left the house.
Now, why didn't the Guardian story contain these details if their reporter was in the same court as the S/Walden staff??
