A HEALTH watchdog has said it will not appeal against the decision to allow two doctors involved in the Carmel Bloom case to continue practising medicine.
John Hines and Paul Timmis were ruled 'fit to practise' by a General Medical Council (GMC) panel last month despite admitting to a string of failures in their treatment of Ms Bloom, of Snakes Lane East, Woodford Green, who died following a routine procedure to bypass a urinary tract blockage at the Bupa - now Spire - Roding Hospital, in Clayhall, in 2002.
The Council for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence (CHRE), which has the power to contest GMC decisions at the High Court, had indicated that it would not appeal against the ruling last week.
But the body has now written to Ms Bloom's brother Bernard, of High Road, Chigwell, to confirm that it will not be taking any action over the case.
Mr Bloom said he was disappointed "but not surprised" by the decision.
