MEMBERS of one of the borough's Safer Neighbourhoods Teams (SNT) helped some law students during a fun workshop last week.
A-level students from Woodbridge High School, in St Barnabas Road, Woodford Green, took part in the Police Powers day with officers from Roding ward, as a way of expanding their understanding of how the law is applied in practise.
The students were sworn in as police officers during a mock ceremony, before taking part in a role play to experience police stop and search powers in action.
Roding SNT member PS Kent said; "Mr Khan [from Woodbridge School] offered Roding SNT the opportunity to visit his law class and my officers devised this interactive presentation to help the students revise Police Powers.
“The session improved understanding for young people in relation to the practical application of the law in a realistic situation.
“Positive encounters like this serve to build relationships between the police and young members of our community and ultimately make the police more accessible and approachable.
“We hope to extend this positive relationship further by inviting student representatives from Woodbridge High School to join Roding Ward Panel."
