THE QUEEN has honoured a local voluntary care group with an award for outstanding service.

Redbridge Voluntary Care are one of 130 winners selected from a shortlist of 413 publicly nominated groups to receive The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

The group, which has been helping the needy for 38 years, will receive a signed certificate from The Queen and a commemorative crystal to mark their outstanding achievements.

Vice President of Redbridge Voluntary Care, Dorothy Hart, said: “We are thrilled to have received this prestigious honour for the work that we do in the local community.”

The group, who visit the housebound and help with everything from emergency shopping to transport to hospitals, join an esteemed list of local volunteer groups to receive the award since its creation in 2002.
