POLICE are hunting a silent thief who robbed a Barkingside bookmakers after handing the cashier a note demanding all their money.

The robber arrived at Ladbrokes in Horns Road on Monday, March 26, just after 4.40pm. He sat with his back to the counter while he wrote on a piece of paper, then turned and handed the note to the cashier.

When the cashier refused to hand over the money, the man lifted a bag towards him, leaving the cashier afraid that it contained a weapon.

The cashier then grabbed a handful of cash and handed it to the man who walked out of the bookmakers turning right into Horns Road.

The man did not say a word throughout the course of the robbery. He thought to be around 30-years-old, 6ft tall, and white, with cropped black hair.

Anyone with any information should contact DC Andy Terry in the Flying Squad on 8345 4226 or, if they wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
