POLICE are hunting for a man who tried to abduct a 13-year-old schoolboy from a street in Clayhall.
The boy had just got off a bus in the Glade at 7.20pm on Wednesday, June 6, and was walking towards Heathcote Court when a man got out of a dark blue car and grabbed the boy by the right arm.
He told him to get into the car but the boy hit him with his schoolbag and ran off.
The man is described as tall and black, with short dreadlocks, wearing light blue jeans and a blue polo shirt.
Police are not linking the attempt with any other incident. DS Simon McKenzie of Ilford CID said: "The boy was pretty shocked at the time but he's getting over it."
