POLICE swooped on a scrap merchants suspected of handling stolen cars.p>
Officers issued a search warrant to Base Force Metals in Staffa Road, Leyton, and were seen carrying out a thorough search of the property and towing away vehicles.
Inspector Paul Nunn, heading up the investigation, said: "A warrant has been issued upon intelligence based on information that stolen goods may be found at the premises. There will be an intelligence gathering operation and it is still being investigated.
"We are going through their records and looking for any stolen vehicles. Arrests are anticipated."
