A TEENAGE girl was raped on her way home in Chingford in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had spent the evening with a friend and had just got off a night bus in Chingford Mount Road.
She was walking along Orchard Close at around 3am when a man approached her, grabbed her by the arm and dragged her into a garden area behind a block of flats where he raped her.
He then fled the scene, leaving his victim to raise the alarm with friends.
Police are now appealing for information and witnesses. The attacker is described as black, possibly of Jamaican origin, 5ft 6ins tall, slim but of muscular build, and with his hair plaited in cornrows.
Anyone with information should call Waltham Forest's Operation Sapphire team, who investigate sexual offences, on 8345 2327. To remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
