Bid to build sheltered housing complex in Chingford

East London and West Essex Guardian Series: The Tom Oakman Centre The Tom Oakman Centre

A BID to build a sheltered housing complex has been submitted to Waltham Forest Council.

Affordable housing management body Circle Housing Group hopes to replace The Tom Oakman Centre and the Miriam Harris Work Centre in Weale Road, Chingford, with the new structure.

The centres currently provide meetings places for the elderly as well as other Chingford residents in need of social activities and support.

Circle hopes to build 38 one-bed units as well as six two-bed units, communal facilities and parking spaces if their application is approved.

There is currently no decision date for the plans.
