Leytonstone author nominated for teenage book prize

East London and West Essex Guardian Series: Sufiya Ahmed Sufiya Ahmed

A book by a Leytonstone author has been nominated for its second national award.

Sufiya Ahmed, of High Road, Leytonstone, won Published Writer of 2012 at the Brit Writers Awards last year for her debut novel Secrets of the Henna Girl.

The novel, which examines the issue of forced marriage, has now been placed on the shortlist for the North East Teenage Book Award.

The winner is announced on Friday.
