The manager of a nursery has spoken of her delight after it got a good Oftsed report.
Twinkles Day Nursery in Colchester Road, Leyton, was praised by the education watchdog for its good care of children, stimulating environment and close links with parents.
It marks an improvement for Twinkles, which was previously rated satisfactory following an Ofsted report in January 2012.
Inspectors said one of the only things stopping it from being classed as outstanding was that "staff do not make the most of opportunities for children to pour their own drinks during meal times to encourage their independence".
Manager Sandra Garrett said: "I'm very pleased at the Ofsted report, and it's nice for the parents and children as well.
"We are aiming to get an outstanding rating next time.
"We couldn't quite believe it that letting some children pour their own drinks was the difference between good and outstanding, but that is something we will have to work on".
The report stated: "Caring and enthusiastic staff use good teaching techniques to support children's independence.
"These have a positive impact on children's learning and development, so that children make good progress in their learning.
"Children enjoy learning through play and enter the nursery happily, eagerly choosing what they wish to do from the interesting and engaging experiences offered."
The privately-owned nursery opened in 1999 and currently has 27 toddlers on its roll aged between two and four.
