School improvement 'must deliver results'
Teaching at a school has improved significantly under a new headteacher, but inspectors have said exam results and literacy levels must improve.
Ofsted praised Frederick Bremer School, in Siddeley Road, Walthamstow, for progress made since the arrival of Jenny Smith, highlighting some “outstanding” teaching and excellent support for pupils with special educational needs.
However, the watchdog has said these improvements must be translated into better GCSE results, with pass rates remaining below the national average for a number of years.
Inspectors also said black students with a Caribbean family background were making less progress than others and there was inconsistency in teaching standards.
The Guardian is awaiting comment from the school.
