SHOTS were fired into a house on a quiet residential street.
Police do not believe the middle aged couple who live at the property in Ashville Road, Leytonstone, were the intended targets of the gunman, who struck at 5am on Monday.
Nobody was injured after two shots were fired into a first floor window and one into the ground floor of the property.
Three black men, believed to be in their late teens or early 20s, were seen leaving the scene and heading towards nearby Grove Green Road on bicycles.
Police are not willing to discuss who they believe the intended targets were.
Operation Trident, which investigates black gun crime, are carrying out house to house inquiries.
Anyone with information is asked to call 8217 7382.

Bert Small, Leyton says...

Like I have suggested in other threads, the lack of pro-active policing is proving to be a dangerous game. PCSO's and token initiatives are not enough. A couple of years ago some villains opened fire with a machine gun outside Leytonstone Police Station at a Police Van full of Policemen. I do not know if the crooks were ever caught. It is all getting to be a common occurance. The Police hardly ever come from the area they work and this Government has done nothing to be 'tough on crime and the causes of crime'.
