WALTHAMSTOW: Firefighters save Standard music venue

The Standard Music Venue The Standard Music Venue

DOZENS of people were evacuated after a fire broke out in flats above a music venue and pub.

Fire crews managed to stop the blaze spreading to the Standard music venue and the Tryst below the flats in Blackhorse Lane.

An unsigned bands event at the Standard had to be halted and around 70 people were evacuated from the building.

No one was injured.

Four engines and around 20 firefighters attended and the fire was under control just after midnight. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

Even as cynical as I am, I can't imagine Mr Loakes trying to burn down a pub with people in it.
