A man is being treated for serious leg injuries after an accident in Leyton Green Road

A CYCLIST has suffered a serious leg injury after being run over.

The 26-year-old was riding in Leyton Green Road at 10.45am today (Friday) when he was knocked from his bicycle and went under a passing car.

He was rushed to Whipps Cross University Hospital.

Patrick Edwards, of Walthamstow Village, saw the aftermath of the accident.

He said: “The man's leg looked like it was hanging off. It looked like it had suffered serious trauma.”

Terrible. Despite all the efforts of London Councils, cyclists are treated as a nuisance on the road by drivers and try overtaking them in slow moving traffic to get nowhere.

It is about time that proper dedicated roads were provide for cycling only.

Like the smoking ban everyone knew it was right and the same attitude should be taken to encourage more cycling and walking.

i'm surprised an accident hasn't happened sooner on this road since the new colourful lines were painted as no one is sure whether its an extra wide cycle lane or too skinny parking bays.
