ONE of the largest 2012 teams will use the University of East London (UEL) campuses as its base during the Games, it has been announced.
Team USA made up of more than 1,000 athletes, coaches and medical staff, will be based at UEL's campuses in Docklands and Stratford.
The team will use UEL's new Sports Dock facility.
Due to open next year, Sports Dock includes badminton, basketball, volleyball and netball courts, football pitches, a gym and a fitness suite.
The American Olympic team is traditionally one of the strongest performing in the world.
In Beijing two years ago the team won 110 medals and came second in the table to China.
