Pedestrian hit by car in Leyton

A PEDESTRIAN may not make a full recovery after being hit by a car.

The 34-year-old suffered a serious head injury after being hit by a car in Belmont Park Road, at the junction with Leyton High Road.

Ambulance staff found the injured woman at 10.45pm and she was taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel where she remains in a critical but stable condition.

Police described her injury as “potentially life changing”.

The driver of the car, a Toyota Carina, did not require hospital treatment.

Roads in the surrounding area were closed for more than four hours after the accident. There have been no arrests. Click here to follow the Waltham Forest Guardian on Twitter
