POLICE have released the name and photograph of a man they want to trace in connection with a death in Leytonstone.
Rolandas Vosylius, 25, a labourer from Lithuania, is believed to have been attacked at the top of stairs at Leytonstone High Road ten days ago.
Officers were called to the station at 6pm on Tuesday, July 20, after reports of a passenger having fallen down a set of stairs.
Emergency services arrived on the scene, but were unable to save him.
Police want to speak to Lithuanian-born Vygantas Ciapas, 19, also known as Gintas Jankauskas, who has been in the UK since June and also works as a labourer.
Senior investigating officer, Detective Superintendent Ashley Croft, said: “We need to speak with this man as a matter of urgency and I appeal to anyone who knows him to contact us.
“Members of the public are asked to exercise caution and not to approach him directly.
“Finally, I would like to appeal to Mr Ciapas himself and ask that he makes contact with the police as soon as possible.”
Police say the suspect arrived at the station about 5.55pm on board a train from Gospel Oak.
Det Supt Croft added: “Anybody who was on that train, or who noticed anything out of the ordinary either on the platform or at the station itself, is also urged to contact police.”
Anyone who has information should call the British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 482 of 20/07/10.
Alternatively they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
