ORGANISERS of the first scavenger hunt in Leytonstone have hailed the event as a success.
The community day, which took place yesterday, was packed full of quizes, prizes and a picnic.
The Ferndale Area Residents' Association, which organised the event, said it was a good chance for the community to get together.
Flash Bristow, one of the organisers, said: "The day went really well. Everyone had really good fun. The children were enthusiastic and had fun solving the clues. Everyone was worried about the weather and if the event would go ahead, but it turned out to be a really nice day and we had a good turn out."
About 40 people turned up. There were prizes for lots of different categories, followed by a picnic on Wanstead Flats.
The scavenger hunt was won by team Fire and Ice.
Sue House, from the team, said: "We loved the day. The children said they didn't care if they didn't win because they had had such a good time. It was lovely for them to do something different."
