A MAN has been arrested in connection with the death of a pensioner who was run over and killed by a lorry on Tuesday (February 21).
The elderly woman, who has still not been identified by police, died at around 12.30pm in Lea Bridge Road near the junction with Vicarage Road.
A section of the busy street, which is on the border between Walthamstow and Leyton, was closed off for most of the afternoon while police investigated.
Police said this afternoon that a man, whose age is yet to be confirmed, had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
He has been released on bail to return to officers next month.
A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said the woman died at the scene.
