POLICE have cordoned off Leytonstone train station after a suspect package was found on a bus.
Passengers who boarded the the 145 bus to Dagenham this morning were asked to get off the bus before it left Leytonstone.
At about 7.30am the Tube station, and the area around it, was cordoned off and police have confirmed there was a suspect package on a bus.
Three fire engines and an ambulance are on standby in the McDonalds car park nearby.
James Bailey, 24, was on the bus.
The mechanic from Kent, who is in the borough to visit his girlfriend, said: "The bus was stopped and people were told to get off.
"I saw a rucksack holdall, which looked like a normal bag, and someone had left it on the bus."
Mr Bailey said he was told a bomb disposal team was on its way.
A police spokesman only confirmed there was a "suspect package" on the bus and he said more details would be released later.
