ABOUT 200 aid workers took to the saddle and raised money to hep fight poverty around the world.

A family from Chingford were among the Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD) supporters who cycled about 20 miles alongside the River Lee between Ponders End, in Enfield, and Broxbourne in Hertfordshire.

Among the riders were Caroline, Thomas and Killian Flynn, a family from Warren Road, Chingford.

Riders ranging in age from one to 83-years-old took part.

Mrs Flynn said: "We feel a real connection to CAFOD and the great work that it carries out with its partners throughout the world.

"Participating in an event where people of all ages raise funds through cycling provides us with a chance to get actively involved and show our support for this great cause.”

The event happened on Sunday.

Last year CAFOD Westminster, which covers London and Hertfordshire, raised more than £12,000 for projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America through Pedal Against Poverty.

This year the target is £15,000 which would help bring clean water to 20 shanty towns in Latin America.
