I am an Epping resident and experience unthoughtful and unhelpful parking in our streets. The commuters choose to work in London and receive higher salaries than locally so they should expect to pay to park.
Unfortunately we do not have enough car parks for them so park and ride seems an obvious solution. The aggressive attitude of some of these unwelcome commuter parkers has a knock on effect in the neighbourhood causing aggression amongst neighbours and even car keying and placing wheelie bins (which is illegal) outside their properties.
Epping is a lovely town but we do not have room for these commuters who bring no economic benefit to our town they just cause problems and tension. We must find a solution for the commuters and not just keep putting a sticking plaster on the problem.
We must tackle the cause.
I wholeheartedly endorse Mike Compton's piece in last week's Guardian.
