Your coverage (Guardian, January 16) of the Care Quality Commission Report on Whipps Cross Hospital referred both to the areas of continuing concern about service delivery and to issues around staff morale and bullying uncovered by the CQC.

We in the local NHS Campaign (WAW-SONHS) have been aware of these issues and have been in regular contact with the Barts Trust management for some weeks.

The Barts Trust Board is due to meet at Whipps Cross Hospital on Wednesday February 5  from 11am to 1.30pm in the hospital board room (Junction 6 on main corridor). The general public are welcome to attend and there is the ability to put questions to the board. Members of the local We are Waltham Forest - Saving Our NHS Campaign will be attending.

We would be grateful if you could publish this letter to encourage people in Waltham Forest to go along to the board meeting to show their support for the staff at Whipps Cross. The presence of a number of local residents will be clear evidence to the board and, more importantly, to the hard-pressed staff at Whipps Cross that the local community is alert to and cares about the issues raised by the Care Quality Commission Report.
