Epping on a Monday has no parking places and the High Street traffic crawls along the road past Epping Forest District Council offices’ clean windows.

Epping on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday is exactly the same.

Yet some bright spark thought to have a stage of the Tour de France come through here.

They pick the busiest day to disrupt Epping – market day.

Only emergency vehicles will be allowed to use the road.

I live in Buttercross Lane, which is a cul de sac with only one means of access onto the road that, you will have guessed, will be closed – Epping High Street.

Our road needs access for carers, so I phoned EFDC, who advised me that Essex County Council was dealing with this.

An initial seven days have passed since I called the county council and still nothing.

Buttercross Lane isn’t unique – there are other roads affected in the same way.

How can carers come and go, where can they park, how is the mythical plan going to ensure they are not delayed?

The surrounding areas are going to be gridlocked. These carers have strict timetables.

What about family members who also care for the elderly? What happens if an incident occurs on the M25 or M11, which happens regularly?

Epping is regularly affected by this problem.

I also read that schools are going to close. So it’s ok for a councillor to pull children out of school, but if a parent who knows and is responsible for the child pulls the child, the parent will be fined.Where is the logic ? This has all the feeling of an April 1 joke and the joke is on the residents of Epping, who are being dumped on.
