On the front page of last week's Chingford Guardian, it was very good to see Winchester Road safety covered.
The road is very dangerous and as I have been door knocking and leafleting many residents have raised the issue with me.
I walk my two children three to four times a week across the zebra crossing by Haldan Road and on various occasions have witnessed near misses.
I hope the campaign for traffic calming is successful. The council is very much on the side of local residents on this.
Furthermore the council's successful 'mini Holland' bid will result in much needed cycle friendly initiatives such as a new 'quiet way' between Walthamstow and Highams Park and the joining up of all new cycle routes, with access to the Olympic Park.
Tony Bell,
Labour council candidate for Hale End and Highams Park.
