Many incensed residents in Billet Road believe that road safety can be greatly improved by the council, since three accidents took place.

There was a parked car dragged off the roadside in the small hours by a moving vehicle whose driver stopped to leave her details and then a cyclist fell off his bike in heavy traffic.
He was helped back on his feet, but fortunately able to get home unaided.

Then a third road accident at the small North Countess roundabout that clearly requires further road safety work.

All three road accidents occurred over a few days and any could have been fatal.

At a time when the Labour council has admitted spending over £500,000 and has been held to governmnet account by dint of its propaganda fortnightly news sheet – which has never contained either public comment pages or any democratic mandate from the taxpayer – the beleaguered residents in Billet Road await faded pedestrian crossing lines to be clearly marked out.

Not to mention badly filled pot holes that resemble poor dental fillings, which this money could be better spent on to aid vitally important road safety to our residents, vulnerable people and pupils in the borough.

In Higham Hill, we have during school term some 3,000 daily, home to school journeys, which all depend on the highest standards of road safety signage and a highly visible council policy on pedestrian crossing markings in Higham Hill and Billet Roads, in particular.

Currently, we have a Labour led council that has failed to understand that taxpayers have not given it the permission to waste £500,000 a year on a monochrome newsletter, without residents’ voices or other opinions being heard.
