I am totally aghast at how this council is behaving over the refurbishment of Walthamstow Pool and Track, which was advertised in Waltham Forest News as having state of the art dive facilities when it reopens.
This is no longer the case. The pool when it reopens will no longer have a 5m dive board or dedicated dive pit.
The reason is that there is no money and the amount of people using it makes it even less cost effective. So the many hundreds of children queuing to use the boards and the Waltham Forest Dive club having operated from there since 1966 is “under use”.
There are no plans submitted yet, so we cannot view what is to come. I hope that gives us a window to campaign to keep them.
Stratford is too far to travel from Waltham Forest. I urge residents to sign the petition to keep the dive facilities and keep the Olympic legacy going.
