I have recently been given this lovely old photo, date sadly not known, so hope that readers will recognise their long-departed relatives.
My great grandmother Minnie Nichols is the first lady in the front row. Sadly, I never knew this lovely lady.
Does anyone know the year or the building and the location of this old folks’ club?
I have no idea where my great grandparents lived in Walthamstow, but it possibly could have been Aveling Park Road or Kenilworth Avenue.
At one time they lived, we think, in Woodford and most certainly at Chingford Mount.
My great grandfather was Walter Herbert Edwin Nichols.
On the back of this photo is written “Happy New Year to Mr and Mrs Green (X Party 1948) Walthamstow Social Centre.
The photographer was H Wilcocks, of 65 Ainslie Wood Gardens in south Chingford.
