In reply to Chris Duran (Letters, June 11) I have been told by many people since the local election that Labour are far too dominant in the borough and this will inevitably lead to complacency and possible door opening to potential corruption in public financial transactions and democratic record keeping. Time will prove to be the best judge.

All elected Lib Dem councillors since 1981 in Waltham Forest have all held locally busy weekly accountable local Ward surgeries on behalf of resident issues.

All elected Liberal Democrat councillors since 1981 in LBWF have been renowned for placing the highest store on resident our local contract, in belief that faithful community service and resonding with everything from resident complaints that the bin-man has not put by bin back in the right place to important tenant led housing meetings and testing local consulation in resident surveys on planning and licensing hours.

Labour waste has been rampant in recent years and the target for many freedom of information demands particularly from local champion community workers with exemplary skills in persistent public scrutiny on behalf of the 'silent majority'.

Nick Tiratsoo LSE and Odessa Road in Leyton and the peerless 30 years of public service of Lib Dem councillor Bob Sullivan could hold the feet of the so called council `strong leader model' to the fire on a raft of public accountability issues in the name of democracy.

In Walthamstow all Liberal Democrats `activists' were in the van in changing the pernicious attitude of the arrogant council leader- via the High Court - who still thinks it is acceptable to send needy vulnerable dependant weekly patrons of the Christian Kitchen to a distant site at the Crooked Billet roundabout after 25 years of being at Mission Grove.

Mr Duran fails to point out that it was a massive Local Election miracle to increase the Labour vote given the legion list of Labour own -goals in this Borough not least with public finance scrutiny and a tendency to blame all ills on `public cuts': instead of showing residents a full set of accountancy records on public spending projects, like on the missing allocation handed to local businesses, under the auspices of the Waltham Forest Business Board. Then there is the matter of public funding of the `pravda' magazine that is costing the taxpayer £500,00 a year, without any public consultation debate inside or outside the new town hall Labour `fiefdom'.

In Higham Hill I predict a democrat deficit without hard-working local caring Liberal Democrats on all important campaigns that include putting in place the highest standards of pupil safety, in the face of dangerous vehicle speeds, in Billet and Higham Hill Roads.

All schools in Higham Hill are all in receipt of the five year highest amounts of `pupil premium' in the borough as a direct result of Lib Dems policy in government. I have also sent my concerns on long patient waiting lists for daily Higham Hill GP visits to the Mr Norman MP the Lib Dem health care minster for his attention.
