Many senior members of the community in the Leyton Green area will be saddened to learn of the death of Dr David Lawrence, whose surgery was at 707 Lea Bridge Road from 1953 until 1983.
He was of the old school – none of your ‘see you in a fortnight’.
If you turned up, you got seen.
There were no appointments and sometimes there were up to 30 people, six days a week.
He died after a long illness, bravely borne with the unstinting help of his wife of over 60 years, Ida.
My wife Iris was his receptionist and housekeeper for many years and we were proud to be retained as friends during his long retirement.
Rest in peace Dave.
Harold and Iris Muir, Chatham Road, Walthamstow.
