I would like to respond to Rev Robert Weissman’s reaction to Rev Paul Harcourt’s Speaking Out on July 17.
Like Rev Harcourt I share in the Church of England’s enthusiasm for the forthcoming ordination of women to the episcopate.
Having been able over these past weeks to listen to the dynamic evangelical preaching of Rev Harcourt, I feel qualified that where appropriate he would be well able to quote scripture references for women in ministry.
However I feel that an appropriate scripture for our local paper and from Paul’s epistles could well be: “I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I pray with joy because of your (our) partnership in the Gospel.”
