We would like to thank your publication for publicising the RedRag (Redbridge Roundabout Action Group) petition to improve safety and reduce congestion for residents and users of the Redbridge Roundabout, particularly those that attempt to join the roundabout from Redbridge Lane East, the only junction on the roundabout not to have traffic lights.
With your help we have now achieved over 2,000 signatures and as a result the council at Redbridge will be debating the petition at the next full council meeting in September.
We are still pushing for more signatures to be able to demonstrate to the council the strength of feeling among Redbridge residents about this problem.
We are also collecting comments from people and over 600 messages have been posted on our website, www.RedRag.info.
We are still looking for more stories about how the roundabout problems is not just about traffic numbers but the human aspect and how it is affecting everybody’s lives.
There are stories about how people have not bought homes
in this area and others have left, how many people feel absol-utely terrified for their safety when venturing on to this roundabout from Redbridge Lane East, how many people have been in or witnessed accidents, how local residents can’t get in or out of their homes because of the congestion.
Others are affected by the pollution from the idling vehicles, plus many other stories.
Alan Haymes,
RedRag.
