May I add to Bill Long’s excellent letter with regard to Iraq (Your Views, August 21).

I recall a man in the street being interviewed in the early days of the conflict, when he said that under Saddam’s rule he had a house and a job, but because of the Western invasion of his country, he now had nothing.

And that is exactly what it was – an invasion, which only later became a war.
