I am trying to organise another reunion for former students of Wellington Avenue Boys and Girls Secondary Schools and their original feeder primary schools in Chingford.
Obviously, over the past 50 years many will have moved around and away from Chingford and many may have stayed so I am trying to reach as many people as possible who attended the schools.
The primary schools involved, as far as I can remember, were Chase Lane, which I attended, Larkswood, or New Road, Yardley Lane, Selwyn Avenue, Whitehall and Kings Road.
We held a reunion in 2012 and I would like to follow it up.
I am looking for anyone who attended the school as a student, teachers, cleaner, catering assistant, or dinner lady, as they were called then.
Many people who come to the reunion will have definite students who they would like to catch up with, who they have not heard from for anything up to 40 years.
I would like to hear from Phillip Vine, David Hooper, Keith Boreham, Melvyn Brotherton, Harvey Chown, Barry Bishop and many more.
At that time, the girls’ and boys’ schools were separate, but after school they would combine for a dance class weekly.
It would be good to catch up with anyone who remembers what were good times and a very good school.
Anyone wanting information about the reunion can contact me on 07752 884547 or email steve.d.hanks@gmail.com.
