I am involved in a project to honour the men from Colac, a small farming community in south western Victoria in Australia, who died in the First World War.

One such soldier was Henry Price, who was born in 1896 in Leytonstone.

As a 17 year old young man, he came to Australia and was working as a farmer when he enlisted in the Australian forces in 1915. He was killed in action on May 3 1917 in France. As part of our project, we are seeking biographical material and photos of each soldier.

Henry Price was the son of David William Price and Lucy Cook and had siblings John, born in 1895 and Lucy Margaret, born in 1904. I write to enquire if his name is on the Leytonstone war memorial and if any records exist of him. I believe he attended St James National School.

I would be most grateful if you are able to advise if any material is known of Henry Price, one of the many English lads who came to Australia and ultimately gave their lives in the Great War.

We wish to honour these men so that their memories are maintained forever.

Stephen Brooks, Australia.
