Despite some cold conditions many local families took on the challenge of orienteering around the forest on the annual Suntrap Family Orienteering Day, last Saturday.

Children and their parents were instructed on how to use a map and compass before embarking on the course which was set out in the forest by Centre staff.

“The Suntrap orienteering route goes right through areas of woodland, giving families the opportunity to get off the busier horse tracks and into some quieter more peaceful parts of the forest, ” explained kerry Rolison, Head of Centre, “it was cold, but families and especially the children really enjoyed the chance to paddle in the stream and splash in the muddy puddles.”

Suntrap’s next family days are the Suntrap Spring Surprise on Thursday 9th April from 10am-1pm and Pond Dipping on Thursday 16th April 10-1pm both of which are drop in sessions, so there is no need to book.
