A charity celebrated becoming independent last week with a party at an airfield.

Transport charity, Community Transport, who supply travel for those unable to use public transport due to disabilities and isolation, hosted the event at North Weald Airfield on Friday (May 15).

The celebration marked the first day under self-management for the charity, who initially started up alongside local community group Voluntary Action Epping Forest.

The event also marked the grand unveiling of their two new Essex County Council funded mini-buses.

Charity administrator Beverly Kruppa said: “It was absolutely wonderful and we had an incredible turnout.

“We were launching  our independence as we originally started up under Voluntary Action Epping  Forest.

“The independence launch now means we are able to receive funding just for us, something we couldn’t do before.

“The event went really well and we are looking forward to helping out the community.”
