A former Chigwell student took home 12th place on the finals of ITV talent show Britain’s Got Talent last night.

Michael McNeish, 18, who studied at West Hatch High School in High Road, Chigwell, appeared on the shows live final at the weekend performing as part of five piece dance group ‘Boyband’.

The teenager, who now studies professional dance and musical theatre at The Bird College of Dance, attended the finals after Ant and Dec selected him to receive one of five ‘golden buzzers’ which send the act straight through to the live shows.

Mr McNeish, who studied A-Level Dance at the Chigwell school where he achieved an A*, was beaten by Jules and Mattise, a dog and owner duo who were crowned the winners of the 2015 show.

Rachael Minister, dance teacher at West Hatch said: “I am so incredibly proud of his achievement.

"To get to the live final of the biggest talent show is incredible.

"His final performance was breath-taking and demonstrated his pure strength and outstanding dance talent."
